Lakewood, WA – Specialty Products, Inc. has been awarded a 2015/2016 Export Voucher by the State of Washington Department of Commerce.
The Export Voucher program is funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) and supports state programs that help small businesses access global markets and increase sales of world-class, American-made goods and services
The Washington State Department of Commerce has been one of the largest grant recipients in the nation, with a total of $3.5 million over the program’s three years of operation. Washington State small businesses brought home more than $128 million in new export sales with assistance from this popular program.
Specialty Products, Inc. (SPI) is one of more than 450 small businesses from around the state that has benefited from the first two years of STEP-funded support, achieving $220 million in sales, making Washington number one among all states participating in the program.
Qualifying export expenses eligible for an Export Voucher include; trade show and trade mission fees, and registration, travel, airfare, Interpreter fees, translation services (website, marketing materials, etc.) and export training programs and services of the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service.
This award recognizes SPI’s capabilities to advance exports, and is the third opportunity given to us in four years. As in previous years, SPI will purpose the funding to offset fees incurred by translating key product documents to the language of a targeted market area. Prior translation of SPI’s Technical and Safety Data Sheets in to Spanish and Russian facilitated increased sales and exports to both of these regions.
Collectively, with a new distribution partner in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a desire to leverage an increased market share in the Middle East, SPI will apply this years’ Export Voucher toward translating the same relative Technical Data Sheets and Safety Data Sheets from English to Arabic.
